UN votes in favor of Palestinians’ right to permanent sovereignty – In Palestine Today

UN votes in favor of Palestinians’ right to permanent sovereignty

The United Nations General Assembly voted on the resolution of Palestinians’ right to permanent sovereignty in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem.

153 countries voted in favor of the resolution, and 6 countries voted against it, namely Canada, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, and America, while 17 countries abstained.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, said that voting in favor of this resolution confirms the right of the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including land, energy, and water resources, and their right to compensation for the ongoing Israeli exploitation of their natural resources.

Al-Maliki added that the vote is an international affirmation of the firm and inalienable right of the Palestinian people, and a rejection of the settlers’ attacks against the land and its owners.

He called on the international community to abide by the implementation of international resolutions, to guarantee the Palestinian people’s freedom to use their land, rights, and resources, and to put an end to all acts of exploitation, abuse, and theft.
