Pro-Palestine activists condemn the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to “Israel”

Palestine, Thursday, May 14, 2020 (In Palestine Today)- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visits Israel to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his new coalition partner Benny Gantz to discuss Israeli plans to formally annex parts of the occupied Palestinian territory.

Palestinian and Pro-Palestine activists from “Palestine Online” team strongly condemned this visit, and expressed their anger at America’s complicity in this matter.

Here are some of their comments:

It seems an odd timing – with the world hunkered down – for the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to be making an urgent, lightning visit to a tiny country in the Middle East. But the Israeli-American relations have never been normal.

The annexation of the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank is part of US President Donald Trump’s “peace plan” known as the “deal of the century”. This illegal plan aims at extending Israeli sovereignty to Jewish settlements.

If the annexation plan was implemented, Palestinian human rights will be severely violated. This is true for Palestinians who find themselves living under Israeli sovereignty inside the annexed areas or remain in parts of the West Bank that will stay un-annexed.

Palestinians under occupation already suffer human rights abuses. Without the restraining framework supplied by the laws of occupation, Israel will view itself as having the full authority to do as it sees fit according to its own considerations on sovereign territory.

It is worth mentioning that “Palestine online” is a gathering of pro-Palestine activists from different countries around the world. They are known in monitoring the Israeli violations and hate-speech against the Palestinians, as they try to spread their voice on social media to raise awareness about the importance of supporting the just cause of Palestine.
