Palestinian man hospitalized after settlers’ attack

NABLUS, Friday, June 26, 2020 (WAFA) – A Palestinian young man was Friday overnight left with bruises and cuts after being attacked by Israeli settlers near Duma village, south of the west Bank city of Nablus, said a local activist.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement construction in the northern West Bank, confirmed that Mohammad Abdul-Hafiz al-Rabi’, 28, sustained bruises and cuts across his body after a number of settlers attacked him near Duma.

Al-Rabi’, a resident of Qira village, northeast of Salfit city, was rushed to a hospital in Nablus city for treatment.

Duma village is where an arson attack by Jewish settlers on July 31, 2015 resulted in the death of three members of a Dawabsheh family, including 18-month-old Ali, who was burned alive in the fire, while both his parents died from suffocation.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Settlers’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

There are almost 834,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
